Back to Peer Tutoring

Join our community of lifelong learners: Become a GS peer tutor.

Candidates for peer tutoring are current General Studies students or alumni who are highly dependable. They also need to have excellent communications skills, strong recommendations from their instructors, an interest in working one-on-one or in small groups with their peers, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and a A or A- grade in the course for which they want to be a tutor.

All GS peer tutors have to commit to ongoing and systematic tutor training. They also have to be available during activities period for meetings. Tutors are members of the GS Peer Tutor Committee, which also includes GS faculty and staff.

Benefits

We support our peer tutors and encourage them to be students first, and peer tutors second. There are many benefits associated with becoming a GS peer tutor. Tutors have flexible hours, gain valuable work experience, are paid, receive tutor training, and use their knowledge to help other GS students. Tutors become part of a very exclusive group and develop into mentors, leaders and role models. There is also an opportunity to become a nationally certified tutor.

Application Information
