Who We Are

The General Studies Program provides you with the best Northeastern offers. We are a small program (approximately 180 students) in NU's very large community (more than 2.000 first-year students) in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. As a General Studies student, you complete your first Northeastern year immersed in a combination of first-year requirements, NU Core courses, and introductory courses for your major. If you don't know your major, that's fine, we can help you define your search and reach your goals. At the end of your successful General Studies year, you will be a sophomore in one of Northeastern's six undergraduate colleges, and you will begin the process of selecting Cooperative Education placements.

General Studies includes committed instructors, dedicated advisors, a nationally-certified peer tutoring program, and a purposefully small but highly-skilled and diverse student body. Welcome!
